Tenor Alexander Wolniak (M.M., McGill University, B.M., summa cum laude Westminster Choir College of Rider University) serves as the Administrative Coordinator and Academic Records officer for the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music.
Previous operatic roles include the title role of Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring, Pedrillo in scenes of Die Entführung aus dem Serail, and Don Basilio in The Marriage of Figaro for Westminster Opera Theater. During his graduate studies, he perfomed Gherardo in Gianni Schicchi, the Sailor in Dido and Aeneas, La Rainette in L’enfant et les sortilèges, and Bobinet in La Vie Parisienne for Opera McGill. Recent engagements include Albert Herring for the Liesl Wirth Black Box Festival (Montréal), Ferrando in Così fan tutte with Opera McGill, and Francis Flute in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta, Canada.
More recent engagements include serving as the tenor soloist for Messiah with conductor J. Reilly Lewis, tenor soloist for Mozart's Mass in C minor with the Maryland Choral Society, as well as creating a role the world premiere of Oblivion, a one-act opera performed for the Capital Fringe Festival, where he was praised for his " . . marvelous tone as Howard's son Philip/Sage 3," by DC Theatre Scene.
He is a strong believer in the creation of new works, and had been featured in premieres of Joseph Santo's Visperas de la Santa Cruz for soli, chorus, and orchestra, Malachey Elyon for tenor solo, SATB choir, orchestra, and tape, and Tre pregarie; and performances as a part of the New Voices @ CUA Festival: Paul Siskind's Thr(e.e. cummingS)ongs, and David Asher Brown's The Writing on the Wall.
Alexander currently sings as a member of the professional core of St. Paul's K St. in DC where he serves as a frequent cantor and soloist. He also performs in various concerts in the DC metro area.
