Rick Christman
Tenor
Born and raised in central Ohio, Rick Christman received BS and MS degrees in Bio-Chemistry. During his college studies, he met his future wife who inspired him to study singing. When she became a Metropolitan Opera soprano, the couple moved to New York where Mr. Christman began his serious vocal studies.
Within a short time he was engaged by the Bel Canto Opera, the Bronx Opera, the New York City Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera. Christman was subsequently engaged by the Zurich Staatsoper to understudy Salvatore Fisichella in the role of Arnoldo in Rossini's Guglielmo Tell . It was in that capacity that he made his European opera debut on 30 minutes notice for an ailing Fisichella, under the baton of conductor Nello Santi, with Maria Chiara and Giorgio Zancanaro in the title roles.
Due to the success of that performance, he went on to sing Arnoldo in several European opera houses. Before returning to the United States, he had performed over 50 roles including Romeo, Rodolfo, Caramello, Alphonse, Alfredo, Fenton, Tamino, Almaviva and had established himself as a concert artist throughout Austria with the Bruckner Orchestra.
