Dr. Andrew Allphin
Andrew Allphin (D.M.A., The Catholic University of America, M.M. University of Michigan, B.M. Brigham Young University) is a trumpet performer and educator. As a musician, he has performed in world renowned venues such as the Kennedy Center, Strathmore, Wolf Trap, and the Lincoln Center. He has performed with greats such as Vince DiMartino, Jens Lindemann, Marvin Stamm, Conrad Herwig, and Rhythm and Brass. Andrew has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, and performs regularly with the Annapolis Symphony. He has performed in the Plymouth Symphony, Maryland Symphony, Windsor Symphony, and the North Carolina Symphony as well.
Dr. Allphin is an Assistant Professor of Humanities at Strayer University, and is a faculty member at Bishop Ireton High School, a renowned school in music education. He is currently a trumpeter in The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in Washington D.C., the premiere ensemble of the military, where he has been since 2004. As a member of “Pershing’s Own,” Andrew performs regularly in ceremonies of national significance with dignitaries and heads of state. He also performs taps at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and for our heroes in Arlington National Cemetery. Staff Sergeant Allphin has performed at the funerals of Presidents Ronald Reagan and Gerald R. Ford, and participated in the inaugurals of two presidents. Andrew plays regularly as a member of the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, the U.S. Army Brass Quintet, the U.S. Army Blues, and the U.S. Army Trumpet Ensemble. As a member of the U.S. Army Trumpet Ensemble, he was a featured artist at the International Trumpet Guild Festival in Sydney, Australia. The U.S. Army Trumpet Ensemble will also be featured in November at the Sauerland-Herbst music festival in Germany. He resides in Northern Virginia with his wife Krista, and is a proud father of four children.
