Richard Miller
Richard Miller, (Ph.D., The Catholic University of America; M.M., Manhattan School of Music; B.M., University of Tennessee at Chattanooga), lecturer in music theory and guitar. Studied classical guitar with Carlos Barbosa-Lima, Nicholas Goluses and Mario Abril and jazz guitar with Paul Wingo. Active as soloist and in chamber settings in both classical music and Latin jazz. Has performed at the Kennedy Center, Strathmore Hall, Embassies of Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia and Spain, including concerts in El Salvador, Peru and Brazil and numerous appearances in music festivals in the Washington, D. C., area. Has recorded with Bill Danoff, Lilo Gonzalez, Patrick de Santos, Grace Griffith, Pam Parker and others. Has presented lecture-recitals at the Library of Congress, the Brazilian-American Cultural Institute, the Inter-American Development Bank and the Washington Guitar Society. Active as a music educator for more than 15 years at both the secondary and university levels.
