Musical Theatre

Gabriel Mangiante serves as the staff accompanist and vocal coach for the Musical Theatre department, as well as providing music direction for various productions.

 

CUA Credits:

Music director for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street; music director/pianist for composer study performances, including Statues and Stories, Myths and Hymns (the works of Adam Guettel) and Jacques Brel: A Composer's Concert. Pianist and assistant music director for Grand Hotel and Evita. Pianist for Oklahoma!. Vocal coach for Ned Rorem's opera Our Town.

 

Professional/Regional Credits:

Music director of The Studio Theatre 2ndStage's productions of This Beautiful City (with The Civilians) and of Reefer Madness, which won the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Resident Musical. Music director of several cabarets at Signature Theatre, including The Lost Songs of Broadway, Volumes I and II, and Ricky, Joe, and Michael John. Music director of Dames At Sea and Damn Yankees at Montgomery College. Other credits include pianist for various events and performances at Signature Theatre, for the 75th Anniversary Gala at the Folger Shakespeare Theatre, and for Kiss Me, Kate at The Washington Savoyards.
