Jeffrey Petryk, Agamemnon
Jeffrey Petryk is an extremely gifted and versatile singer, actor, writer, instrumentalist, producer and entertainer. He commands an exceptionally rich baritone voice supported by a stage presence of remarkable talent. Jeffrey has held principal roles in both musicals and operas such as Most Happy Fella, Carousel, Finnian's Rainbow, The Unsinkable Molly Brown, Little Red Riding Hood, The Mikado, Gianni Schicchi, Rigoletto, Cosí fan tutte, La Traviata, Götterdämmerung, and Tales of Hoffmann. He toured with Intermountain Opera Company, performing as Ike in Sweet Betsy from Pike, and Bob in The Old Maid and the Thief. In the fall of 2001, Jeffrey appeared as Germone in La Traviata for the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music; he reprised the role for the Shaker Mountain Music Festival in 2002. Jeffrey performed Das Deutsche Lied in an appearance at the Centre La Phoenix in Switzerland in 1999. He has also produced, starred in and toured his own productions such as In My Heart, Touched by the Classics, America’s Music of the West, Celebrate America and an annual, locally televised production entitled Christmas in Montana.
Jeffrey was a 1998 finalist in the Friedrich Schorr International Competition in Voice. He later studied voice with Breda Zakotnik through the Mozarteum, in Salzburg, Austria, and was recently this year’s recipient of the Washington Summer Opera Theater Guild Scholarship for vocal performance. Jeffrey is currently completing his DMA at the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music of The Catholic University of America.
Paul Zolandz, chorus
Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, Paul is a freshman vocal performance major at The Catholic University of America. Agamemnon is his third performance on the CUA stage; he has appeared this year in both The Word and Amahl & the Night Visitors. On campus, Paul is a member of both the CUA University Chorus and the CUA Chamber Singers. Past experiences in performing include All-State festivals and the 2001-2002 Music Teacher’s National Association Competition, where he was the state winner and later selected as the alternate to the national competition from the Eastern Division. Special thanks go to his family and friends, and also to his voice teacher, Ms. Sharon Christman.
